The canvas RECORD 17 receives First Prize
at the VII Manuel Ángeles Ortiz Painting Competition (2022), University of Jaén
On December 15, the group exhibition of the VII Manuel Ángeles Ortiz Painting Competition (2022) was inaugurated. I am participating with the canvas RECORD 17, which received the First Prize.
The award ceremony was presided over by the Rector of the University, Mr Juan Gómez Ortega, the head of the jury, Prof Pedro A. Galera (Professor of Art History at the University of Jaén), and representatives from the Vice-Rectorate for Culture of UJA. The exhibition is being held in the Exhibition Hall of the former School of Education and runs until February 15.
“RECORD 17 is part of the project RECORDS, which began with a four-months artistic residency across arid, steppe, tundra, and taiga landscapes in Xinjiang (China), Mongolia, and Buryatia (Russia).
I am grateful to the University of Jaén and the jury members of the VII edition of the Painting Competition for their confidence in my work.
RECORD 17 —and all works in this series—have traveled a long path. I am pleased that their latest stop is here, becoming part of the collection of a university that does invaluable work in support of all the artistic disciplines.”
